Golden Doodle History
The golden doodle is a relatively new breed, with its first generation created sometime in the early 1990s. This breed was created by crossing a poodle and a golden retriever to create an "Designer Breed" that featured the best of both parents: intelligence, hypoallergenic coat, and good temperament.
The original intent was for this breed to make an excellent family pet; one with all the great qualities of both parents as well as being friendly towards children and adults alike. Soon after their creation, golden doodles gained immense popularity due to their sweet-natured disposition, low shedding and allergy friendly coats.
Since then they have been bred more selectively using a variety of different larger breeds which has helped them become today's favorites when it comes to families looking for the perfect canine companion. They are certified by many organizations such as the American Kennel Club (AKC) in 2018 and are eligible for registration into several categories within its sporting group division since 2021.
