Maltipoo History
The Maltipoo is a designer dog breed that was developed by crossing a Maltese and a Toy or Miniature Poodle. It is one of the oldest “doodle” breeds, having been around since the early 2000s. The resulting hybrid has gained popularity due to its small size and attractive hypoallergenic coat. The original purpose of the Maltipoo was as a companion pet due to its friendly, loving, and loyal nature. Because of their intelligence and ease obedience training, they are an ideal family pet. In recent years, the breed has grown in popularity both in America and worldwide due to its affectionate demeanor and calm temperament. As with all doodles, it also requires regular grooming which makes them easy-care pets despite their long hair coats. The Maltipoo's large eyes give it an endearing expression that appeals to many owners who seek an optimum balance between exercise needs, energy level and behavior while living happily in urban settings or indoors homes without yards.
