Staffordshire Bull Terrier History
The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is a breed of terrier originating in England. The breed descends from cross breeding the English bulldog and other ancient British breeds such as the white terrier. It was initially used for fighting and bull baiting, but eventually grew in popularity to become an iconic family companion. In 1936, the Kennel Club of England recognized it as its own breed separate from the Bull Terriers.
The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is a loyal and gentle dog that bonds strongly with its owners. Although strong-willed, they are easily trained with consistency and positive reinforcement techniques. It has been known to exhibit signs of resource-guarding behaviors including aggression when overprotective of its food or environment if not properly socialized or trained at an early age.
